The Joy of Paperless Post and Party Planning

Note that this is a sponsored post.

I am fortunate to have a mother turning 80 this year who is beautiful, smart, and active in her community. When we decided she should have a party to celebrate this milestone birthday, our first decision was where it should be. Our second was what kind of invitation we would send.

My mother, remarkably, had never received an evite. It seems that many in her generation still order paper invitations, addressing them by hand, and adhering stamps to each envelope before dropping them in the mail. When I explained the concept of an evite to her, she was incredulous. To her, the concept was almost magical.

Together we looked at the Paperless Post website, targeting adult birthday cards. The selection was immense; there were literally hundreds of cards from which to choose. In fact, the selection was so vast, we decided to limit it to “adult floral birthday” invitations which left us with a solid 154 results. This was much more manageable, and we had a lot of fun choosing just the right card.

Customizing the card took only minutes. What took a bit longer for my mother was figuring out how she would send me the email addresses of her guests, so I could input them into the template. Paperless Post makes this as easy as possible, allowing users to retrieve the data from an address book on their computers or to download files in several possible formats.

Since what you see is what you get, there’s no need for a proof. Yet, as I explained to my mother, you can send yourself a “test” to make sure that everything is perfect, and you can see what your guests will see. My mother was delighted!

Once we send out the Paperless Post evites, we’ll have the ability to track RSVP responses and send reminders to guests. This is a great example of technology making the process of sending invitations faster, cheaper, and more enjoyable. Thank you Paperless Post!
